Who these terms are between
These terms govern the Licuse website, account services and Licuse-specific hosted features offered by Berat Doğan Araç, based in Konya, Türkiye (“we”, “us”). Contact: hello@licuse.com. We operate as an individual; “Licuse” is our product name and is not a representation that a company has been incorporated.
By creating an account or choosing to use these services after being shown these terms, you agree to them. If you use Licuse for an organization, you must have authority to act for it. You must be at least 18 and legally capable of entering this agreement. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use our hosted services. Separate open-source licences continue to govern their respective software components.
What Licuse provides
Licuse is an AI-assisted, local-first development workspace for code, notes and project context. It can send selected content to AI providers and suggest or perform tool actions according to the app’s available settings and permissions. It is not a weapons system, professional advisory service or safety-certified autonomous system.
The current beta workspace is free. BYOK (“bring your own key”) connects your account with a supported third-party AI provider; that provider sets its own charges and conditions. Features, model availability and supported operating systems can change. Beta releases may contain defects; macOS builds are labelled Preview and current installers are unsigned/not notarized. Keep backups and review release notes before updating.
Your account and security
Provide accurate registration information, protect your sign-in credentials and provider keys, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. Do not impersonate someone, sell accounts, share access to evade restrictions, or bypass usage controls. You are responsible for activity you authorize, but this does not remove rights you have in relation to unauthorized transactions or our own failures.
We may ask for proportionate verification when handling access, deletion or billing requests. Never send passwords, full payment-card details or AI API keys to support. The Privacy notice explains account data; accepting these terms is not consent to optional analytics or marketing.
AI output and tool actions
AI-generated code, text and instructions may be inaccurate, insecure, biased, outdated or similar to another user’s output. We do not guarantee originality, copyright protection, non-infringement or suitability. Review licences, test generated code and verify factual claims before using or distributing output.
Review file edits, terminal commands, downloads and network requests before authorizing them. Tool actions can change or delete files, install dependencies, expose content to a provider or incur third-party charges. Do not place credentials or confidential material in context unless you are authorized and have checked the recipient’s terms. Do not rely on Licuse as the sole basis for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or consequential decisions about people.
Your content and permissions
You retain the rights you hold in your files, prompts, notes and other input. We do not acquire ownership of your workspace. To the extent output rights belong to us and are transferable, we allow you to use that output; this does not grant rights owned by an AI provider or another person, or guarantee that copyright exists.
You authorize the limited processing and transfer needed to deliver features you invoke, such as transmitting selected context to an AI provider or processing material you send to support. You must have the rights and permissions needed for the content you submit. Our current application does not include a Licuse model-training pipeline for your workspace content; this is not a promise about every independent provider’s retention or training practices. See Data & providers.
Software rights and reverse engineering
Licuse branding, original materials and any proprietary services remain protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Unless we give permission, do not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to extract non-public source code, credentials, model weights or confidential service internals from proprietary Licuse components; do not defeat access controls or misrepresent a modified build as our official product.
This restriction applies only to the extent permitted by law and the licence governing the relevant component. It does not restrict rights granted by the MIT licence or other open-source licences, lawful interoperability work, permitted observation or testing, or other non-waivable statutory rights. Licuse includes VS Code/VSCodium-derived and third-party components with their own notices. Those licences prevail for those components; these terms do not relicense them. The restriction does not prevent you from inspecting or modifying your own generated code or project files.
Use the workspace responsibly
The Acceptable use policy forms part of these terms. In particular, using our services to develop or enable missiles, weapons, explosives, violent operations, malware, exploitation of children, fraud or unauthorized access is prohibited. You must also respect applicable export controls, sanctions and third-party provider rules.
These restrictions apply to our service relationship. They do not withdraw permissions separately granted under third-party open-source licences.
Pricing, payments and cancellation
Builder subscriptions start at USD 15 per month with a monthly hosted AI allowance displayed as a percentage. Plan capacity is shown relative to Builder 15 before checkout. Taxes are calculated at checkout. Credits are granted after each successful payment and expire at the end of that paid billing period; unused credits do not roll over. Hosted usage consumes credits according to provider-reported cost. In-progress requests reserve part of the allowance until cost is confirmed. When your available balance is insufficient, new hosted requests stop. BYOK does not consume Licuse Credits. Credits are non-transferable service allowances, not cash, stored money or investments. Partial or full refunds reduce the associated allowance.
When real payments are enabled, Polar is intended to act as merchant of record/authorized reseller for purchases made through its checkout.Polar’s Buyer Terms apply to that transaction in addition to our product terms. Payment data is entered into Polar’s checkout, not a Licuse card form. Sandbox transactions create separate test plans and credits with no monetary value. Test allowances never transfer to a live account balance. Hosted sandbox AI access is limited to accounts enabled for testing.
Canceling renewal lets you keep using the remaining hosted allowance until the paid period ends; unused allowance does not roll over. Cancellation does not automatically issue a refund. Under our standard voluntary refund policy, you may request a refund for the current paid billing period if none of that period’s hosted allowance has been consumed. Once any allowance is consumed, that period does not qualify for this standard refund; you may still cancel renewal and use the remaining allowance until expiry.
Submit an unused-period refund request in your dashboard. It concerns only the current payment and creates a support ticket with a record of the payment and usage at the time of your request. In-progress requests and unsettled provider costs must finish settling first. We verify ownership and usage, then lock that period’s hosted allowance during manual review. A request is not an immediate refund or cancellation; use Cancel subscription in your dashboard to stop future renewals separately. If approved, we process the refund of that payment through Polar. A refund does not itself cancel your subscription or future renewals. If declined, any remaining eligible allowance is unlocked until its original expiry. Resuming renewal does not bypass a refund hold. BYOK stays available. We do not promise a specific bank settlement date. No notification email is sent for dashboard tickets; check their status in your dashboard.
This standard policy does not limit mandatory withdrawal, refund or other consumer rights, remedies for defective or misdescribed services, or Polar’s independent refund decisions. Contact billing@licuse.com or Polar support for those cases or for an earlier payment, even if you have used the service.
For cancellation, refunds and statutory rights, see Refunds & cancellation. BYOK provider charges are separate. We will not automatically enrol a free beta account into a paid subscription without an order and the required disclosures.
Availability, changes and ending access
We may maintain, update or discontinue a beta feature, and may suspend access where reasonably necessary to address security, suspected unlawful activity, a material breach or a legal obligation. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and give an opportunity to correct the issue or request review. Urgent restrictions may be applied first to protect people, accounts or services.
You can stop using Licuse and ask us to close your cloud account at any time. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete all local data or your cloud account. Local deletion, cloud deletion and provider retention are separate; see the privacy notice. Paid-service changes, if introduced, remain subject to mandatory notice, cancellation and refund rights.
Responsibility and legal rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, beta services are provided on an “as available” basis without a promise of uninterrupted or error-free operation. This does not exclude mandatory warranties, duties of care, consumer remedies or liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, intentional wrongdoing or other protected claims.
Each party remains responsible under applicable law for its own actions. We do not impose a blanket waiver of data-protection or consumer rights. A third-party service has its own terms, but referring to those terms does not remove our responsibilities for processing we control.
Changes, complaints and governing law
We will publish the date of material updates and provide additional notice when required. Changes will not retroactively remove accrued rights or replace the terms governing an existing paid order without a lawful basis. If a clause is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue where possible.
These service terms are governed by the laws of Türkiye, subject to any mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights available in your country of residence. No clause requires you to waive access to competent consumer authorities, courts or data-protection regulators. Contact hello@licuse.com to raise a complaint or request review of an account restriction. Polar’s own transaction terms govern its separate role.
