Identify the meter
Read the exact warning and check the active model and billing route. Current subscriptions and legacy accounts do not share identical allowances or reset mechanics. Save the displayed reset time and charge category instead of inferring them from an older plan name.

Find the workload behind it
Long tool output, repeated file reads and repair loops can increase model work. Compare a short codebase question with a multi-file repair in your account dashboard. One visible prompt is not a fixed amount of inference.
If a task is repeating without progress, stop and preserve the current diff and failure evidence. More available capacity will not repair the underlying hypothesis.
Choose the matching recovery
An allowance reset, an account spend-cap change and a provider rate-limit recovery are different operations. Use the path named by your account and check its price before enabling more spend. BYOK introduces a separate provider bill and does not cover every Cursor feature.
